Mutant Response Division

Formed from multiple iterations of committees based from the National Security Council and its spinoff, the Federal Council on Mutant Activities, the Mutant Response Division is the largest dedicated governmental watchdog agency on the planet that is dedicated to monitoring and suppressing mutant activity.

The illegal commission known as Project: Wideawake continues to operate under the auspices of the MRD despite the previous failure of the project's prototype Sentinels.

Most recently, the MRD has utilized arrested members of the Brotherhood of Mutants to apprehend their fellow mutants in exchange for a full pardon. The name of the primary unit of "mutants-hunting-mutants" is unironically called Freedom Force.

In early August, Levi/Dustdevil encountered Dr. Cecilia Reyes when he was falsely arrested by the Secret Service for alleged kidnapping charges. Her MRD credentials gave her first crack at interrogating him even ahead of the FBI, but he was ultimately released.
