| Origin Story | Sonya Cross was born as Anastasia in Moscow, to Alexei Dasayev, a Soviet mutant created in a lab with powers over electricity and radiation, and Ksenia Kuznietsova, a KGB operative. Soon after Sonya was born, both parents separated and Ksenia moved to East Germany. Her father died few years later. Sonya was a weak child, and she was sick a lot when she was young. Combine that with fact that living with her mother, she was moving from place to place, Sonya was a lonely child. Her mother made sure however, that Sonya received best possible care and when that didn’t help she signed her off for an experimental treatment at age of six. Sonya was taken away to a secret location where she was trained and enhanced, and she was to be turned into a special agent. The experimental treatment meshed too well with her natural mutant genetic makeup, she became healthy, and then went off the scale. During extensive combat training, as Sonya was growing up, it became apparent that she was an unusually gifted child. She started her work as a secret agent at age of fourteen, never allowed to have a proper childhood. Within two years since she started working as an agent and assassin, she manifested new powerful abilities. Immediately scheduled for further testing, her mother intercepted Sonya on the way to a closed special facility in Siberia. She freed Sonya and together they escaped to USA. Here, her mother spent a year hiding them both, creating fake identity for her daughter under name Sonya Cross. Then she met Professor X who tracked her down, she decided to put Sonya in his hands, while she went back to Russia to throw off the scent of any pursuit off her daughter. |
