Overview

The X-Men were founded by Professor Charles Xavier who trained mutant students at his school to use their gifts and abilities to create a better world for humans and mutants alike. Originating with only five members, the X-Men roster continues to grow and cycle as events in the world unfold.

FIRST CLASS

The original team consisted of Cyclops, Beast, Marvel Girl, and Iceman. Soon the Angel joined up, followed by Havok and Polaris. The seven heroes showed the world the good potential of mutants. An ill-fated and mysterious mission resulted in all but Cyclops disappearing.

Iceman was recovered from a Department H black site with no memory of how he came to be there.

Beast was found to be in thrall to Reverend William Stryker and was eventually recovered from Purifier control.

Marvel Girl was discovered to still be on the mysterious island of Krakoa where the First Class originally went missing. All records had been lost, along with personal memories, so the trail had to be reconstructed from vague clues.

Polaris was located in the Savage Land, being held as a prisoner while Zaladane kept control of Magneto's Citadel. An ancient device had been used to create dimensional portals with Polaris somehow powering them. She was lost once again to the Limbo dimension when cast there by Zaladane.

ALTERNATE CLASS

After the disappearance of the FIRST CLASS, Professor Xavier began recruiting a new team that would help rescue the original team once they were located. Unfortunately, that proved to be far more fruitless than anticipated. Several recruits came and went before the final lineup became solidified in few trials by fire. As a result, Professor Xavier has chosen to christen the new team as X-MEN.

After Cyclops was placed on sabbatical, Armoury (Cameron Hood) was installed as Team Leader.

After Armoury left the team to pursue his former commanding officer, Caveman (Connor Bruin) was raised to Team leader.

X-FACTOR

Several months after the initial disappearance of the First Class, Scott Summers and Jean Grey founded X-Factor Investigations. It was originally funded by the X-Corporation, but its political advocacy for human rights soon took on its own fundraising arms to become a self-sufficient organization in its own right. Joined by notable figures such as Bobby Drake, formerly of the X-Men, and Quicksilver (Pietro Maximoff), formerly of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, X-Factor is becoming a formidable group in the fight for mutant rights and a future of peace for all.
