While Scott hadn't known exactly what was going to happen at the debate in Boston, it still went pretty much how he had expected. It seemed like no one could express an idea without someone else coming along to punish them for it. He hoped the future would become better in that regard, but he harbored secret fears that it would only get worse. If Professor Xavier could not advocate for peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants and avoid a public attack while doing so, then who could?

It was enough to make the veteran X-Man frustrated. And then the close call Aurora had faced only made it worse. Matters had to be taken into his own hands. That much was clear.

The Blackbird had arrived along with the rest of the team. Professor Xavier was recuperating in the medical ward while everyone else saw to their field wounds. Jade would be working double time. All in all, mostly scrapes and bruises. Morale was difficult to measure. Some were elated, others were livid, but all seemed exhausted.

Once Aurora made her way out of the medical area, though, Scott guided her to a quiet corner.

"Hey..." he said in a low voice. "You took a hit back there. How's it look?"

“It’s okay." Aurora was quick to try and reassure Scott. “A few cuts, and a cauterised wound that’s looking good. I’ll be fine.” She offered a smile. “I’m just sore that’s all. Are you okay?”

Scott's stoic face cracked with a faint smile in return. "I'll be fine. As far as excursions go, that was milder one. You did well though." He was pretty sure Aurora was fine, but he needed to be certain for what came next. "I know it's late and everyone is going to bed... But I found the place." He paused a moment to arch his eyebrows. "We could wait and go in the morning...or..." He trailed off.

Aurora’s eyes widened in surprise. “Let’s do it, Scott! Being tired isn’t going to stop me from marrying you.” She smiled.

"Shh!" Scott shushed her with two fingers to her lips. "I had a feeling, so I've already called a cab to take us into the City. Grab whatever you need and we'll slip out the front."

Aurora nodded. “I already have a small bag sorted. It won’t take me long to get.”

She hurried off to her room, pulling out a small bag from the closet she made sure she had a suitable dress for the wedding. It wasn’t a wedding gown as such, but it would suffice given the circumstances. Double checking she had her ID, she put her bag on her shoulder and headed back to Scott.

By the time they made it outside, the taxi cab's headlights were bouncing up the lane. Scott got them through the gate and ready for pick-up before the cab came to a stop. He opened the door for Aurora and slid in behind her.

"147-55 3rd Ave, Queens," Scott told the cabbie. "We're getting married."

The driver snorted and set the meter to start running.

Ignoring him, Scott turned to Aurora. "Hard to believe this is actually happening, isn't it?"

Aurora nodded. “Totally! But I’m excited anyway.” She gently took hold of his hand. “I want to make your life happy, Scott, however I can. I’ll be there for you no matter what, or as the wedding vows say...for better or worse, til death do us part.”

"Happiness is a choice," Scott replied. "I'm choosing this. Choosing you. Choosing us." He placed his other hand on her womb." After facing so much loss, though, he cringed a little at the mention of death. "If it's all the same to you, can we leave out the death part? I'd rather we take that as a given and just focus on the living part."

“Sorry, of course” Aurora nodded. “I want to be the best wife and mother that I can possibly be. I may not have had the best start, or a loving family but I’ll make sure our baby has the life he or she deserves.”

Scott smiled at her courage. Like many things about her, it was infectious. "I know you will be," Scott said. Quietly, he let go of his old life in order to commit himself to this new path. There was no turning back. Aurora was his future. Looking at her glowing face, he knew that everything would be all right in the end. He pulled her against him and settled in for the ride into the City.

An hour passed before the cab pulled to a stop in front of the glassed-in storefront. Lights displayed mannequins dressed as a bride and groom in main window beneath stylized calligraphy. "This the place?"

"Yeah," Scott said. He handed the driver a fold of bills. "Keep the change."

The cabbie counted it and saw it was too much. "You's want I should wait around?"

Scott looked at Aurora, wondering what she would prefer.

Aurora looked back at Scott. “I guess we will need to be back at the mansion ready for the morning to avoid suspicion. Unless you have any other ideas?”

"I guess we'll be back." Scott tapped the protective screen between front and back seats. He slid out of the car and held a hand out for Aurora. "Here we go," he said with a nervous chuckle.

Aurora nodded. “Just give me a ten minutes to change? I’ve got a dress with me.” She gave him a big smile as they headed inside, and she headed for the ladies room. It wasn’t the most glamorous place to change, but she wasn’t going to be long anyway. Putting on the cream coloured knee length dress she straightened it out, putting on some matching shoes to go with it. She’d gotten the outfit when she’d first moved into the mansion, it had just taken her fancy, she never imagined it would become her wedding outfit. Letting her hair down she brushed it then packed the brush away and headed back out to Scott.

“I’m ready, Scott.” She stood waiting to see what he thought.

Scott took off his coat to reveal himself in a button shirt and tie. When Aurora walked out, Scott realized he'd never seen her in a dress before. "Wow," he said. "You look... incredible."

"Yeeeeees," said the old man who looked like he was only half awake. "Quite lovely. You got ten minutes left before you pay for another session, so let's get on with it."

"We'll take as long as we take," Scott said firmly with a touch of offense. He looked back at Aurora. "Your dress really does look beautiful."

“Thank you.” Aurora blushed as she smiled. “Let’s get this wedding underway!”

"Right this way." The old man took a few steps, leading toward a gold candlestick, and turned around. He said, "Welcome to Express Elopements. We're here to bind you together in matrimony. Do you have vows or shall I recite the traditional ones?"

Scott looked at Aurora again. He had honestly overlooked this part.

“I guess you can recite the traditional ones...” Aurora hadn’t given a thought to writing her own vows, and she didn’t want to mess up the ceremony by ad-libbing something off the top of her head. “Ohh but please don’t mention the part about d-e-a-t-h.” She didn’t want to say the word.

Clearing his throat, the old officiant began his practiced spiel. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here in the middle of the night in the most hasty and impulsive manner possible to witness the union of—" He paused to refer to the paperwork Scott had filled out while Aurora had changed into her dress. "Scott and Aurora in what I can only describe as a momentous occasion. Do you both swear to love, honor, and cherish one another forever and all time?"

"I do." Scott had already made the decision, so the words came out with ease.

“I very much do.” Aurora smiled and nodded as she looked at Scott.

"Do you have rings?" the man asked. "If not, they're extra."

Scott sighed, whipped out his wallet, and handed the man another fold of bills. The officiant counted them before stuffing the wad down his shirt. "All right, gold special. One for you and one for you." He handed them off to Scott and Aurora, each in turn. "Exchange them and say the words, 'With this ring, I thee wed'."

Holding Aurora's hand in his own, Scott slid the ring onto her finger. "With this ring, I thee wed."

Taking the other ring Aurora gently took hold of Scott’s hand sliding the ring onto his finger. “With this ring, I thee wed.”

"By the power invested in me by the State of New York, and by the witnesses watching on camera ex post facto who will later affirm and sign their names to the same," the officiant said while pointing at the security camera by the door, "I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss your bride."

Only now did Scott feel a little hesitant, but it didn't last for long. He took Aurora's hands once more, drew her in, and kissed her with the urgency and relief of a cold drink on a hot day. They had done it. The deal was sealed. At last, perhaps everything would be all right.

Aurora returned her husband’s kiss with all the love she felt for him. She reluctantly drew back to avoid getting too carried away. She turned to the celebrant. “Thank you.” Then looked back at Scott. “I love you.”

"And I you," Scott said.

"Well, don't gotta' go home but you's can't stay here," said the old man. "You're coming up on the top of the hour."

"Thanks," Scott said. "What about..."

The man stuck a marriage license in front of their faces. "Sign there and there. We'll get it notarized and mailed to the address you provided. If there's nothin' else, then please accept our fondest wishes and sincerest congratulations and thank you for choosing Express Elopements."

Scott scrawled his signature during the man's spiel and made room for Aurora to do the same.

Aurora signed her part. It was exciting that they were now man and wife. “Maybe we could have that cab take us somewhere else for a few hours?”

"The Hilton's nearby," the old man said. "Here's a coupon. Now clear out or I gots to charge you extra."

"Fair enough," Scott said. He put an arm around Aurora and led her back outside. "The Hilton's pretty nice. I might have to put it on the Mansion's expense account even with this... coupon..." When he looked at it, Scott felt deflated. It was for free breakfast. "But I think we're past the point of hiding now."

“If you’re sure?” Aurora looked at Scott concernedly. “I just thought we could have some privacy away from the mansion.” She gave him a wry smile.

Scott shrugged. "We came this far, didn't we?" As he opened the door for Aurora, he told the cabbie, "Hilton Hotel, please."

The cabbie let out a chuckle and sped away once his passengers were secure.

Inside the hotel room, the broad window that took up the entire far wall had the curtains drawn back to let the city lights illuminate the room. Scott walked inside first, carrying Aurora's bag over his shoulder. It slid to the floor once he saw the full spread. The room was centered by a king sized bed, of course, but it had a canopy with a sturdy arched frame. There was a walk-in shower with two showerheads as well as in in-floor Jacuzzi tub. Recessed lighting shot gentle rays of light against the center of the floor while leaving the corners to backlighting from ambient city light. A kitchenette with a refrigerator was in the far corner. All that was missing was slow jazz music.

"Wow." Scott was at a loss for words.

“Wow is it!” Aurora looked around wide eyed before sitting on the edge of the bed. “This is a lovely comfortable bed, just perfect for a wedding night, or maybe you’d like to take a bath?”

Caught up in the moment, Scott swept Aurora into his arms and spun her off her feet in a circle. "I want to do it all." He kissed her, still holding her in the air, and laid her down on the bed. "What do you want?" he asked in her ear.

“What do I want?” Aurora sounded breathless. “I want you...I want to do...everything!” She pulled him down for a passionate, fiery kiss.

Scott returned her kiss until he couldn't hold his breath any longer, then he slid down her body. If she wanted everything, he would give her everything. Having slid down to the edge of the bed, he hiked up her dress and kissed along her navel while his fingers slowly slid along her panties before edging them down. His lips traced her hip bone down to her thigh.

"When you say you love me, words fail me in reply," Scott said from down low, "so let me show you."

And then he dove deeper.

Aurora gasped, a gasp that turned into pleasured moans and cries.

What began with kissing soon fell into a steady motion with a coordinated rhythm. Aurora’s body writhed with the pleasure she was feeling, her fingers grasping the bedsheets as she cried out Scott’s name.

The sound of his name blasting from her lips like a trumpet was more than enough encouragement. Everything about the experience made him forget all else—his fatigue, the battle of the previous day, the scandal of what they had done. All he had a mind for was bringing her to her fill.

Aurora was in raptures the volume of her cries increasing as Scott drove her to her peak, she cried out as her climax hit like a freight train. Her back arching off the bed before it dropped back down again.

Once her first climax came, Scott lost himself in the primal desire to keep her cries going as long as possible.

Aurora barely had time to come down off one high before Scott had begun anew driving her to the next, her cries and moans started rising in volume once again as her fingers found his hair encouraging him onward.

Her entangling fingers played him like an accordion. Scott pressed onward in a frenzy, his eagerness putting him into overdrive. Time meant nothing. Not with her voice in his ears screaming his name. It was eternal bliss wrapped in a moment stretched out one flick at a time.

Time seemed to pass in a frenzy of passion. She lay practically panting before her mood changed, now it was her turn. She pushed Scott back switching positions as she decided to try for herself what she’d never tried before, she was going to pleasure Scott just as he’d pleasured her. Her nimble fingers working his trousers and briefs out of the way before she looked up at him as her lips went tenderly to work figuring out just what Scott liked.

Her moaning and writhing had left Scott throbbing with desire, so when Aurora asserted herself, Scott gave way. Free and exposed, he gave himself over to the experience body and soul. A grunt came out. It must have been him though he didn't recall making it. Beyond the physical sensation was the tingle in his mind of telepathic intent. Scott didn't even have to guide her. She simply knew. That realization opened him up inside. "A...A...ra...ra..." His mouth could barely speak her name but his thoughts were screaming it.

Aurora paused and smiled before continuing a little longer, she wasn’t ready to go the whole way that way yet, but she was aching to have Scott inside her. Her voice filled his mind. ~ Do you want me Scott...take me! Please!! ~

And he did. No sooner had he scooped her up, braced her against him, and stormed her womanly gates. Once in position, he sank back against his heels and set their bodies in motion like the wheels on a train engine. There was no warm-up or pacing. Passion demanded full speed and Scott could bring himself to deliver no less. ~I have you~ The thought echoed around the shared space of their joined minds. ~You have me~

Aurora’s moans and cries filled the room once again, her pleasure being shared between them through her telepathic link with Scott’s mind. ~ Ohh Yes Scott!! Don’t stop...please don’t stop!! ~

~Never!~ Scott was grateful for their link because his mouth felt paralyzed, only good for grunting and moaning. ~I'll never stop!~ With that pledge, his head fell back as he entered full union, their thoughts as interconnected as their bodies.

Aurora’s emotions were becoming as intertwined with Scott’s as he was with hers, his sheer drive ramping up her drive for more. She encouraged him in every way wanting to experience everything there was to experience. It was going to be a long, but enjoyable and exhausting night by the time they were finished.

After an endless time, Scott's mind was pulled back to his body by the surge of physical pleasure that numbed his brain with ecstasy. The pulsating desire that demanded release finally found it, giving way to slower motions that wound down to a still, quiet embrace. Still holding Aurora aloft, Scott clutched her ever so tightly while his breathing returned to normal and he remembered how to speak. "Wow. Hi. Just...wow."

Aurora was exhausted as she held onto Scott, but she managed a gleaming smile. “Wow...it is!” She gently ran her fingers through his hair tidying it up. “You are incredible!! You drive me to heights of pleasure that I can’t control, and I love it!!” She paused. “If we keep this up after our baby is born we’ll end up with a whole tribe of kids!”

The mention of a tribe of kids was a startling thought. Scott lost his balance and fell back on the bed with Aurora toppling beside him. He started laughing at his own clumsiness.

Aurora giggled and burst out laughing. “It was just a joke Scott! More children can wait until we’ve had chance to settle into our lives as a couple.”

"Oh, I know. It was just... expected." His laughter subsided into happy chuckles. "Come on. Let's get cleaned up." He headed toward the shower and started unbuttoning his severely ruffled shirt. "We didn't even properly undress before we, eh, got started."

“Well I’m getting undressed now” Aurora grinned as she slid out of her wedding dress and lingerie to join Scott in the shower. She motioned to her arm. “I need to try keeping this dressing dry if I can. Either that or I’ll have to change it.”

Scott found a shower cap near the towels. "Let's try this." He wrapped it around her arm and tied it off like a tourniquet while letting the water run from both showerheads. "There." Then he stepped into the hot, steaming water and let out a sigh. "That's good." He held out a hand for her to join him. "Coming?"

“Ohhh, you bet I am!” Aurora smiled as she took Scott’s hand and stepped inside. She let the water run over her body wiping it from her face as she swept her hair back. “I love you, Scott Summers, and I’m thrilled to be Mrs. Summers.”

"I'd say you're off to a good start already." Scott grinned back at her through the misting shower. "Hard to believe it's only been a few weeks. Feels like a lifetime already." He let the water carry his hands down her face, neck, and sides. "Not sure where this leads next. Not even sure how we got here. But we're happy. That's enough to know for now."

Aurora nodded as her hands ran along his skin. “My life such as it is started with us, Scott, and I’m happier than I’ve ever been. Where we go from here we go together, as long as I’m at your side I know all will be alright.”

"I'll do what I can," Scott said. "We're going to face obstacles. Just remember tonight when we do. We got to this point. Nothing can take this moment away."

Aurora nodded. “I’ll try Scott, as long as we have each other I know we’ll be alright.”

"Good." Scott smiled and pulled her in for a kiss with his hands behind her head. "Now where were we?"
