Mission Summary
Following a post-Danger Room training team party, the X-Men's spirits were dampened by a news alert detailing an anti-mutant demonstration in Baltimore, centered around a mutant held at a local police station. With Professor Xavier away at Muir Island, the team decided to intervene in an unsanctioned rescue mission. The situation escalated when the Brotherhood arrived, unleashing havoc. The scene climaxed when Magneto lifted and then dropped the USS Missouri battleship onto the mob of anti-mutant protesters, leading to a chaotic and narrow escape for all involved.
Amidst this turmoil, Scott supported Aurora in using Cerebro, despite his limited knowledge from observing Xavier and Jean. Unexpectedly, Jean's voice emerged from Aurora, causing her to faint.
Upon Xavier and Bliss's return from Muir Island, a burgeoning romance sparked by Connor's poetic gesture to Bliss after her fugue state. This newfound intimacy was revealed during a serene night at the lake followed by continual flirtation.
Aurora, after recovering, sought Xavier's advice on navigating her feelings for Scott, which was complicated by a shared dream that deepened their connection. Ignoring Xavier's counsel for space, their relationship quickly evolved, marked by intense moments of passion and a spontaneous marriage proposal from Scott, driven by a mix of emotion and obligation. Their elopement led to Scott being trespassed from the campus.
In parallel, Bobby made a flamboyant return, marking it by throwing himself a welcome home party. Despite his brash demeanor, his complex journey as a bisexual individual grappling with past traumas and his impact on others is explored as he struggles to retake his place among the X-Men.
Meanwhile, a public debate between Professor Xavier and Reverend Stryker on mutant rights captivated audiences in Boston but ended in a violent confrontation orchestrated by Stryker. Xavier's subsequent mission to infiltrate Stryker's compound revealed a shocking sight—Beast, controlled and coerced into a dire situation by Stryker which compelled Xavier to surrender himself to the Purifiers with rescue being his only hope. The X-Mansion soon faced an assault from the Juggernaut who had been hired to lead a band of Purifiers.
The X-Men repelled the attack and turned the tables against the Purifiers by cracking their communications network.
The climax saw the X-Men thwarting Stryker's catastrophic plan at Niagara Falls, intended to exploit Xavier's abilities through broadcasting mutant kill-signal through a doomsday device, powered by Niagara Falls power station and transmitted by the emerging mobile network. Although the X-Men were successful, the Brotherhood sought to exact their own justice on Stryker and snatched him from the authorities who had already taken him into custody. Magneto's decisive action ensured Stryker's fate was sealed as the Reverend was taken to Asteroid M to face mutant justice.
