Episode 6: X-Fernus Agenda

Timeline: November 26th, 1990
Drew came to a quick stop in front of the mansion doors. He paused to pull off his backpack and check the contents he had run into town to get for Aurora. Aurora had telepathically contacted him about twenty minutes prior when she'd woken up with a midnight pregnancy craving.
Seeing that everything was still intact, Drew entered the mansion and made his way to the common room in the Girls Dormitory. He saw Aurora sitting on the couch waiting for him. He gave her a smile as he took a seat in the end chair and started pulling out packaged bundles and placed them on the table. "Here’s the dinner, hope I got your order right?”
Opening up the bundles Aurora nodded enthusiastically. “Mmmm absolutely! Thank you so much for this Drew!” She eagerly put out the food so that they could both share the fried chicken feast together. “Please join me, you bought this for me, there’s enough for two, or should I say three!” She grinned.
Drew responded with a light chuckle. "Four actually. I got the family meal. There's also mashed potatoes, gravy, coleslaw and six rolls in addition to the fried chicken." He gestured to the array of food on the coffee table before settling back in his chair.
"Wow! now that is a feast!" Aurora grinned. "Let's get it divided up, then we can sit and enjoy to our hearts content."
Drew smiled back at Aurora as he handed her one of the containers of each of the sides and took the other two for himself. He handed her a packet with a napkin and spark. "Bon appetit dear lady."
"Thank you, and Bon appetit to you too Drew." Aurora smiled before politely she started politely tucking into her feast. "Mmm delicious!"
"Eleven herbs and spices." He dug into his food as well. He took a few bites and paused to curiously look at Aurora. He had been asleep when she had contacted him telepathically to make a late night food run. "You mind if I ask you a question? About your telepathy that is?"
“Hmm..sure” Aurora nodded, wiping her mouth as she finished chewing her food.
Drew looked at Aurora, specifically her hair. "When you telepathically contacted me about going on a food run, I was sleeping and I saw an image of you in my mind. You had like a reddish auburn hair though. It was just kinda...different."
“Really?” Aurora gave Drew a curious look. “That was my original hair colour, but I changed it. I needed to be a new me, and it seemed the logical thing to do.”
Drew looked at Aurora as he listened to her and chewed his food, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Well, you looked great as a redhead in my opinion." He thought about something his mother had once said to Angela when she had been going through a phase in 9th grade. "Though changing your appearance doesn't really change the person you are inside."
Aurora nodded. “I guess you’re right, I was just...” She paused for a moment. “..trying to distinguish myself from... someone else.” She offered a brief smile.
Drew bestowed upon Aurora a slight smile. "My mom always says, be yourself, changing something about yourself because of someone else is just hiding who you really are and ultimately leads to being unhappy with how you think others perceive you."
“Your mom sounds like a wise woman” Aurora smiled warmly. “I just need some time to discover just who the real me truly is. I know that sounds weird, but right now all I know is that I want to be the best mother I can be to my son.”
"She is the wisest person I know." He missed his parents, his mom especially. He took a deep breath and released it slowly. "I think she would tell you...kiss your son before bed every night and tell them you love them. The rest you will figure out as you go. Do that...and you will be a great mom."
Aurora’s smile grew as she looked at Drew, “I’ll remember that.” She tucked into some more of her food, she was enjoying Drew’s company it was nice just to be herself instead of hiding away.
Drew looked at Aurora’s growing smile for a moment and felt a sudden inspiration. He reached into his backpack and retrieved a sketch pad and a box of colored pencils. "Could you just hold that for a moment." His hand and head seemed to turn blurry, only lasting for a minute.
“Did you just sketch me?” Aurora gave Drew a curious look. “Can I see it please?”
Drew looked down at the drawing before flipping it over. The image was of a smiling auburn haired Aurora holding a bundle with the face of a sleeping infant. The message was simple, yet powerful. A mother's love. "Sorry about the hair...it's just that...how you appeared to me in the dream before running to get the food looked...more you." He handed the sketch pad to Aurora.
“I appeared differently to you? I didn’t send an image of myself when I contacted you to ask about the food, at least not intentionally anyway.” Aurora offered a smile.
Drew shrugged. "I was dreaming. Perhaps it was my mind manifesting you in the dream." He gestured to Aurora’s belly. "You do kind of take on a fiery spirit when talking about Christopher."
“Sometimes Maybe, but I don’t let my feelings broadcast, it could be harmful to others.” Aurora paused to finish up what was on her plate.
Drew had finished his food as well. He gestured to the small box. "Still a couple of rolls left. Want one?"
"Ohh no, thank you I'm stuffed!" Aurora grinned. "I'll definitely sleep well tonight on top of all of that. I promise I won't make a habit of calling you for food."
Drew smiled back at Aurora. "Don't sweat it. I usually get up twice throughout the night for a snack anyway. It's really not an inconvenience." He popped the last two dinner rolls into his mouth and chewed. Drew looked at the empty boxes, containers and bags. He stood up and began to gather up the trash. "You go to bed. I’ll get this cleaned up."
“Are you sure? I don’t mind helping” Aurora offered before seeing the look on Drew’s face. “Thank you Drew, Goodnight.”
Drew looked up at Aurora over by her bedroom door. She had that vulnerable look about her, like life was dumping a lot on her. He just wanted to help, to be there if she needed a friend to talk to or a partner in crime for late night kitchen raids. He gave her a warm smile. "You're welcome. Get some rest and pleasant dreams."
“You too Drew” With that she headed off to bed, she would definitely sleep well this evening.
